Safe, sustainable surfacing and shapes for playgrounds and walkways

First Playtop Project in Cyprus

28 April 2015

Playtop safer surfacing has recently been used by Ergosport to complete its first installation in Cyprus, combating “dubious quality” materials from other suppliers.

Ergosport, Playtop’s licensee in Greece and Cyprus, recently completed the sea-themed playground, battling against adverse weather conditions to create a 215 square metre recreational area at the RAF base in Ayios Nikolaos Station.

The playground includes a variation of bright blue and yellow, representing the ocean and sand, contrasted against green palm tree shapes, deep blue splashes and bright red dolphins. The thickness of the play surface varied from 40 mm to 90 mm to provide maximum comfort and support where needed.

Petros Rekkas, of Ergosport, explains how the technical aspects of completing the company’s first installation in Cyprus affected the project: “The challenge was the complicated surface,” he asserts, “In different thicknesses and with many varied colour combinations. As the project is the first Playtop installation in Cyprus, we made every effort to achieve a high quality surface and to deliver the very best result.

“However, I have to mention the bad weather conditions we met in Cyprus. Low temperatures and lots of rain created many problems for us which had the potential to delay the project, but when we left we had created a great, fun play surface!”

Petros adds that the sheer quality of Playtop’s materials differentiates the brand from its competitors, both here and abroad; “The main advantage of Playtop surfacing compared to other products is the great quality of raw materials.”

Rob Baker, UK managing director of Proludic, who provided the play equipment for the installation, added that Playtop had “delivered an excellent installation, even with difficult weather conditions.”
